IN SUPPORT TO MR. .FANG JIGIAN.

When Mr. Fang Jigian member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Conference, adviser to the People’s government of Guangdong Province and Professor at the Sun Yat-sen University School of Public Health urged the government to step its efforts to ban smoking, Mr. Zhang Baozhen, Vice Director of State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, said banning smoking might affect Social stability and this is NOT true. It’s also very wrong to argue that promoting smoking is good for society Health yet we very well know that every year 5million people worldwide die from tobacco related diseases and more so 1million from China alone.Mr. Vice Director Zhang should also know that that stability is not the highest priority; it’s not possible to have social stability without good health, a diseased society can never be stable.Mr.Zhang, should know that hurting the Tobacco Monopoly Administration is nothing compared to the loss of good health and death caused by Tobacco smoke.Mr. Zhang says banning smoking might cause social urest, this is not true, look at Hong Kong Special Administrative Region which is part of China, recently promulgated new regulations banning smoking in most workplaces, public places, hotels, streets and public entertainment facilities and this has not cause any social unrest anywhere and Hong Kong is quite doing well on this by fining smokers who violate the ban up to HK$ 5000.Most people think controlling Tobacco smoke or banning it is aimed at protecting the rights of non smokers forgetting that even the smokers themselves have the right to good health. Tobacco consumption is actually highest in China, and the like of Mr.Zhang should join hands with the like of Mr. Fang Jiqian to make China a smoke free nation.

Oh Motherland
Land without thunder
The land without storms and strangers
The home of all.

Where do I come from?
Father and Mother can’t hear me
Where do I come from?
Really where do I come from!?

No Motherland is foreign land
Where do I dwell?
Where is my River of milk and gold?
My stomach never asks no less.
Abundant is the milk of full breasts
No sleep I never cry for

Oh my country land
So far is the foreign land
I open my eyes and see,
Nothing of my own
Black and far is the foreign land
Blind to see no children
No children of the woman
Alone and frighten is me
Oh my brothers and sisters
Has foreign land eaten you?
My voice is loud for you.

Oh my sweet home!
How I miss you sweet home
I sleep awake
The eyes close no more
Oh Refugee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quantity Or Quality - 2007/04/24 00:09

Gone are the days, makerere university is no longer the university Uganda used to pride of.it's really sad to read on the nation's news paper that Makerere University has drooped to the 54th position among the 100 best Universities in Africa from last year 23rd position and to the 6,429th in the world.infact it should have moved from the 23th to atleast among the best ten. in the past ,entry into Makerere University was like passing through the hole in a needle, nowadays it's just a matter of affordability, whether the student is or not mentally capable he or she just sails through as long as the parents can drive a four wheels car to the campus, has some connection to the government or speak some particular language.I think quantity over rides quality now,the question is,"how many students can pay and sail through to the graduation day".the main issue now is about money not quality education.many more private universities are now cropping up but with little influence on makerere university which is considered the best in East Africa and now that the graph going down, what should we expect from the minor ones?what can the uganda government do to let makerere university regain its fame? something must be done soon.

Why Are all Demonstrations in Uganda Violent? - 2007/04/19 23:02

There is a saying that 'He who owns a Hummer Thinks all that he sees is a Nail".Museveni once said that He came to power through fire and he believes he will go through fire. Why can't there be any peaceful Demonstration in Uganda? The Police are supposed to guard the laws of the country but for the case of Uganda there is no longer any Rule of law we can be proud of as Ugandans.I was so shocked to witness a shameful and embarressing brakedown of the country Judicial system (Court Siege).Infact,we proved to the world that we don't practice what we preach.Infact,I'm so perplexed to read on our Daily News Papers that the president praised the kiboko squad , that those people are the community who organised themselves in a self defence group against these rioters..Does it mean the community are free to take the laws into there hands?Supposing next time one or two different groups organised themselves may be with spear, pangas, bows and arrows, will the police look on giving the president time to praised them over the death of maybe one million people?I think by arresting MPS or riotors ,the government trying to treat then symtoms rather than the disease itself.Post edited by: admin, at: 2007/04/19 23:52

THE PEACE TALK WILL FAIL. authored by Lakony Wilson DD on 7. July 2006 at 09:43

I think the peace attempt will fail because of the following: Let us look at the Uganda Government and ICC as two different sets (Pie Charts), the intersection set here is definitely Kony’s group. Kony has been indicted by the ICC of which Uganda Government is a signatory and at the same time Kony has been offered amnesty by the government of Uganda this really makes it impossible for Kony to belong to the intersection set therefore the set is empty. Museveni says the noble cuase of trying Kony before the ICC had been betrayed by failure of the UN which set the court. While the UN is saying Museveni amnesty is a sham. I Believe Kony as a Human being doesn’t have a pumpkin for head. For us who come from the war torn North think this is a very good offer by the rebel group and the government of Uganda to talk peace ,however, the ICC doesn’t want to be seen that it has failed to measure up, this is all about peace, let the two talk peace and the ICC takes it up thereafter as they have already requested the Kony’s group to Hugue and argue their case and the government of Uganda also to defend itself from the blame labeled against her by the rebel-One is NOT guilty until proved so.

FOR PEACE SAKE,LET THE PEACE TALK HOLD. authored by Lakony Wilson DD on 29. September 2006 at 06:38

It has really been so good for the Government of Uganda and the Rebels of the LRA this time round to have thought of having a guanine Peace Talk. Being an Acholi and a peace loving Ugandan ,I have been one of the happy and excited people about the peace talk but it appears our happiness is being cut short. From what has been going on since the peace talk begun, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. Both the government and the Rebels displayed some sense of maturity but now as the saying goes “Character is like pregnancy” you can never hide it, their true colours are beginning to come out.President Museveni has started again calling his peace talk partners’ names, even using the words “Finish Them, Terrorists” and LRA in their typical styles “We have the Military muscles to overthrow the government”. Surely where are we heading?????I urge the people from Northern Uganda and North Eastern where the so called war has affected greatly to stand up now and know what is good for them. Let’s wait eagerly for the outcome of the peace talk. Should there be any failure from the side of the rebels, we should all stand up and use all sort of weapons whether it’s a spoon to fight Kony and his men up to the end and should it be from the government side, we should do likewise and resist the government stand until peace prevails. Enough is enough, this game of “Seek and Hide” must come to an end. For how long must our people suffer before something is done? What is good for the Goose is good for the Gender.
